I’ve been working with Sharmin for several months and am very pleased with the coaching relationship we’ve had. I did not know what to expect with leadership coaching, but Sharmin helped guide me through the formal and informal process to explore my personal-professional self. We cleared many milestones–as I’ve moved across the country and also changed jobs while working together. I asked Sharmin recently what were her goals as a coach, and she said “to make sure the person is confident and comfortable in their own skin” –and after working with Sharmin, I am!
I met Sharmin when I was seeking a business coach after being promoted to a high role in my company. As a woman and as an employee without the depth of knowledge and experience of others in the industry, I was feeling intimidated, anxious, and had low confidence in owning my new role. However, my boss saw what I didn’t see in myself and encouraged me to get a business coach.
I met with a couple of coaches, but when I met Sharmin I immediately felt a great connection. She pushed me right away in the first session to work through not just the surface level feelings of ‘overwhelm’ that I was having, but to look further into myself to the root cause of those feelings. She helped me dig into my thought process and how those thoughts led to my feelings and actions or inactions. Sometimes hitting on uncomfortable feelings, Sharmin created a safe space to explore my thoughts and didn’t push her own agenda. It was always a focus on what I wanted to work on and what I felt like would help me move forward.
She was also very flexible with scheduling to make sure we could space out our time for maximum benefit. The tools and conversations we had helped me build confidence that was just lying under the surface. Even though I fall backward sometimes into my imposter syndrome or negative feelings, I try to remember the conversations and tools we explored, and those backslide don’t become too hard to redirect. I would definitely recommend Sharmin as a business coach with a holistic approach. Her calm presence and ability to uncover root causes would help anyone looking to make changes personally and professionally.
The past six months working with Sharmin has been an eye-opener for me, as I have found my inner self and learned about what I feel internally can impact others around me. This has translated directly towards my professional life and how I conduct myself at work. My manager has told me on several occasions now about the positive changes she is observing. I have been more thoughtful in my approach while making sure I am doing the right by the organization. At a personal level, each session with Sharmin has led to learning new things about myself be it about how I want my life to be in 10-20 years to small changes I can do that will make me happy. Her small nudges in each session, have helped me in making things happen for myself that make me happy.
Sharmin helped me gain better insight into how my analytical mind worked alongside my strong but mostly unexpressed emotions and coached me how to express those emotions. This has not been an easy journey, but Sharmin has remained readily available and supportive while I work through the discomfort of being more expressive. It changed my interpersonal relationships with peers, my manager, and direct reports for better.
I immediately connected with Sharmin’s warm and engaging style. She asks insightful questions, helps you think through challenging personnel situations and become more aware of your responses to various situations -all oriented around what you’ve identified as your development gaps in pursuit of career goals. I have quickly seen progress through seemingly simple and thoughtful conversations and “practice” both in and out of coaching sessions. I absolutely recommend Sharmin for those looking to identify opportunities for career and personal growth.
